A Little Bit of Housekeeping…

From time to time we change things up here on the old www.otisandjames.com (you can call it ‘the www’ or ‘the interwebs’ if you like), and this is one of those times.  You may have noticed that there is no longer a ‘blog’ link at the top of this page – and that is because when you land on the site you will now just automatically be in the blog!

I’ll give you a moment to wrap your head around that.

OK.  Now that you’ve recovered…as far as the rest of the site goes, it is all the same – all of the parts of the site are still accessible via the tabs at the top of the page.  Yay for tabs!  If you would like to browse a certain category of blog posts (i.e. – you want to see everything ‘Senior’ we have ever done, just go to the tab called Search and go crazy.)

Why the change?  Well, we knew that the overwhelming majority of people coming to the site are here for the blog, so why not make that process easy as possible.  Pretty smart, huh?!  That’s it!  Happy surfing, and MuchLove!

Only The Shadows Know…

Oh yeah, well hello there!  It’s me.  I know, I know, it’s been forever and a day.  But let’s not dwell on the past, let us instead look to the future – to a place filled to the brim with shadows.  In particular, job shadows.  What does a job shadow do?  How does it work?  Well, let me explain:  When The Shadow shows up at our studio, we pretend to be a highly organized group that is the model of efficiency.  We tidy up the office, remove anything from our desks that might be considered offensive, and we show them what it is that we do.

Which is take pictures.  In fact, we just give them the camera and let them go.  It’s cheap labor – you got a problem with it?  Didn’t think so.  Well then, without any further delay, let us take a look at our lovely shadows – Enjoy!

The Senior Open House Inside Scoop

As you may have already heard, on Sunday March 13th we will be having our sixth annual Senior Open House at our studio – but you may be asking yourself ‘why is this important?’ – and I’m here to give you some reasons why, as well as to explain a little bit about how it will work.

1)Why should you go?

The biggest reason why is that based upon how every other year has gone, we will book the majority of our prime session dates at this event.  This is the first day our summer calendar will be open for booking Senior Portraits, and we book on a first com/first serve basis.

As if that wasn’t enough, if you book your session in our studio you will be eligible for our prize drawing, details of which can be found at this link.

2)How does it work?

It’s simple.  Just get your self into our studio and book your session.  It’s just a laid back affair – we’ll be there to answer your questions, and you are welcome to take a look around at our studio to see what exactly o&j is all about!

Once you are ready to book, one of us will be able to help you find a time and get you in the calendar.  Simple as that!

3)What if I can’t make it to the Open House?

Let’s say you are still stuck somewhere far away from us and many icy roads separate us from you – well, you can call our studio at 701.838.6181 and if we have the ability to, we will answer your call.  Here’s the deal, though; our first priority will be to those actually in our studio.  If we are unable to answer your call, please leave a voicemail and as soon as we can we will return calls in the order they were received.

If you are unable to attend or call, from the Open House on our calendars will be open for booking – but sessions are limited and they will go quickly!

4)What are the sessions you are offering?

Good question!  CLICK THIS GIANT LINK FOR ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR 2012 SESSIONS!

5)What’s this thing gonna cost?

Ahh yes, the most important part, how much scratch are you going to have to dig out of your wallet for this.  Well, here’s the story.  In order to book your session – whichever session you choose – there will be a $100.00 non-refundable deposit that must be paid.  We will not be able to put you in our calendar until that deposit is placed, no exceptions.  The remainder of the balance will not be due until the time of the actual session.

Alright my good people, you have the inside scoop.  We hope to see all of you at the Open House tomorrow!  We would love to meet you, and more important – we would be honored to be a part of your Senior Year!

Jamie’s New Hat!

She’s always three steps ahead of the rest.  I know, you might be thinking ‘why does she have a bucket on her head?’, but you wait – in six months you will have one too.  Just like those real pointy shoes she had – she was right about those.

She got it at Menards, in case your interested.

2010…The Year in Review (aka ‘What Happened in Bullet Point Form’)

2010.  What a year.  It was a year where if you multiplied the last two numbers by two you would get the first two numbers.  I know.  I’m blowing your mind, but try to stick with me here.  Not only was there this weird math thing going on, we also had a lot going on in the world of o&j.

Now, I suppose that some out there in Blogville might be thinking that due to the lack of recent posts all up in this place, that we’ve gone into early retirement, but that is far…far…far from the case.  So, enough with these non bullet point words, and on to the year in stats.

In the year of our Lord, Two-Thousand and Ten, we at the Otis & James FunCenter for Fun did the following:

  • We shot a total of 25 weddings across the state, and in the process travelled 3,840+ miles to do so!
  • We had the pleasure of photographing 125 seniors, and we’re not done yet with the class of 2011!
  • Over 300 portrait sessions.  Parents, children grandparents, cats, dogs…you name it.  We did it!
  • We shot approximately 275,000 raw images, which have been edited down to 1.83 TB of final corrected images, and in the process have burned hundreds of backup DVD’s to keep your images happy & safe!
  • We hosted one concert and one fundraiser in our studio, raising over $10,500 for incredible charities!

And then…..

Jamie started cookin’ up a baby in her belly!
